When was the last time that you built something?
Or, rebuilt something?
Now, I am not talking about Lego or Ikea furniture here.
I am talking about making something from scratch.
Or rebuilding something that was broken or needed it.
Personally, I find it, shall I say, therapeutic to get the tools out and cut up some wood.
Or, if I am feeling really adventurous, and want to get my hands dirty, tinkering with the car.
For those of us who live in a corporate environment, doing something with our hands, where we can see the end result may help with the increased levels of stress we feel ourselves under.
So, next time you need a bookshelf, don’t go for the Ready To Assemble version, look around for plans and build one yourself.
Plus, think of the bragging rights you will get when you grab a book from the bookshelf you made…
(Oh, and to clarify, if you are a woman, pick up a hammer too. I am not saying that you can’t do it. The title of this post is also the title of a country music song by The Wheel).
