In Defence Of Blogging

People… they don’t write anymore, they blog. Instead of talking, they text, no punctuation, no grammar: LOL this and LMFAO that.
~ Hank Moody (Californication s1ep4 – “Fear and Loathing at the Fundraiser”)

While Hanky Moody may not be a fan of blogging, I must say that I am.

Without being able to blog, how many of us are able to share our thoughts with those who want to read them?

With a blog, you have genuine independence.

Yes, you may get slapped by the search engines if you do something they don’t like, though that is no worse than relying on the echo chamber that is social media.

What you post on a blog is there until you take it down.

It isn’t dependant on playing nice with a particular social media platform, or distribution network.

Maintaining a blog is potentially just as challenging as being a writer.

And, just as rewarding.

So, despite what Hank Moody says, we should all be blogging and adding value to the world. (Though I do agree with him on the LOL/LMFAO part).
