Fear is one of those things that marketers and the media know will get people to buy something, or click on their article.
The more we read, and believe these pitches, and click on click-bait headlines, the deeper we get into their pit of despair, and the more pitches we believe, and headlines we click on, creating a never-ending spiral of doom and gloom.
What is really interesting about this, is we don’t need to buy what they are selling.
We can all take a stand and say that no, we will not subscribe to their narrative.
We will no longer live in fear.
By doing this we can make our own story better.
The better we write our story, the better the story becomes for those who are impacted/influenced by us.
The better their story becomes, the better society becomes.
Many years ago I was told that fear is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real.
When you think about it, this applies to possibly 99% of the things that have us scared, when we shouldn’t be.
I would also be willing to bet that it applies to 99%, if not 100% of the click-bait headlines.
If there is a reason to be genuinely scared of something, you won’t be reading about it in the paper.
In closing, I would like to leave you with this quote by Will Smith.
Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. That is near insanity. Do not misunderstand me danger is very real but fear is a choice.
