Improving Industrial Relations

In 2019, it baffles me that so many in business have the minimum requirement position when it comes to industrial relations.

And, likewise, I am floored by those employees who have the all you can get position.

Neither position will be beneficial for a long term employment relationship.

Yet so many on both sides think that the adversarial approach is the only option.

Thankfully, it isn’t.

Instead of simply thinking about what you can get out of your employer, think about what it is you can do to help them.

Instead of thinking about what the minimum you have to do to comply with employment legislation, think about what it is that you can do to help your employees reach their goals.

None of us would be happy in a relationship where the other party was only concerned in taking all the time.

And, none of us would be happy if our partner only did the minimum needed.

Yet, we for most of us, work takes up at least a third of our day.

Isn’t it time that we put the old stuff behind us, and made the employment relationship a mutually beneficial one?

Will you be the one to take the first step?
