Frustrating Hackers

Having a few websites that run on WordPress, it is always interesting to see the number of hacking attempts that each of my sites receive.

Thankfully, I have a quality firewall/security plugin running, which makes it harder for them to get through.

In the past 24 hours, I have had failed login attempts with the following usernames

  • cameronblewettblog
  • admin
  • cameronblewett_admin
  • cameronblewett
  • test
  • cameronblewett.blog
  • Cameron Blewett

While they didn’t get access to the back end of the website, it does make me wonder how many other websites they are able to get access to.

Is it really that easy to hack into a website?

If it is that easy, how easy is it to get access to an account that someone has somewhere else?

While I won’t say that I am obsessed with online security, I do my best to make things harder to get unauthorised access to my accounts.

Like locking the doors on your car when you leave it, using a hard password should be second nature.
