Despite what the Skyhooks said, ego is a dirty word.
Our ego is what gets us into trouble.
It is our ego that causes us to do the things we may regret in three days time.
It is our ego that causes us to put our desires above that of everyone else. (This isn’t a segue into the utilitarian the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, this is about doing things from a win-win position).
Reminds me of that saying about the two wolves.
Time to stop feeding the bad wolf.
