Have a look at most of the job vacancies around these days, and you will discover that most of them list having a university degree as preferred or essential.
While in some fields they actually are essential, for the most part, I don’t think they are.
I do understanding the reasoning around why it is used as a sorting mechanism for recruiters.
Though the logic doesn’t really stand up.
And, if recent scandals are any indicator, a degree doesn’t necessarily mean that the right thing will be done.
Maybe it is time to understand that what matters most is the time that we spend with people, not books.
