We’ve seen a few heads of business claim that they are making noise about particular issues because it is “the morally right thing to do”.
Though the thing with claiming that you have morality on your side is that it is subjective and varies from person to person.
And, unless you go all in, with your moral crusade, you run the risk of being exposed for hypocrisy.
For example, let’s take the climate change issue.
Supposedly, we have to go on strike today, and join some parade in support of climate action.
Yet, how many are protesting in support of more and free public transport?
How many of those heads of business would be willing to give up their vehicle to catch public transport to and from their place of business?
Would they be willing to give up their imported products for the sake of the environment?
Would they be willing to pay more for electricity if it was clean?
Rather than claiming that you are doing something because it is “the morally right thing to do”, maybe you should be honest and admit that you are doing it because it makes sense for your business, or you have a personal interest in the outcome.
