So you were born to feel “nice”? Instead of doing things and experiencing them? Don’t you see the plants, the birds, the ants and spiders and bees going about their individual tasks, putting the world in order, as best they can? And you’re not willing to do your job as a human being? Why aren’t you running to do what your nature demands?
Marcus Aurelius (Meditations)
Last week I shared Marcus Aurelius’ thoughts on staying in bed. Today, it is his thoughts on being comfortable.
The thing about being comfortable is that it is only technology and luxuries that have allowed us to feel that way.
It also makes us soft, and lazy.
Way back when I started driving I had 4/60 air conditioning. (4 windows and 60kms per hour).
These days how many of us drive the actual air conditioner always one?
Is being comfortable all the time making us better?
Is it helping us to do what we need to do?
